12 Weeks

Twelve weeks. Ideally, I would be starting to feel better...less nauseated as the placenta is doing it's job and it's not all up to my body. Unfortunately, I'm still sick about once a day. At least it's for a good cause! I've been treated for Strep the last week, so I'm finally perking up after that. Tommy started his job last week and is loving it. He also had his last drill this past weekend. I'm proud of him. He has served 6 years. Now he's on to something else. I told him he can only do one dangerous thing at a time.

I went to the doctor today. My mom went into work late so that she could come with me. Tommy had to work, and I didn't mind since there was no ultrasound. It was my first time with the new doctor, so I got a boatload of paperwork to read through. They used the doppler to listen to the heartbeat. It's beating away at 160 bpm (totally normal). I was also quite stunned to learn that I haven't gained a single pound in 5 weeks! I also learned that there is only a 10% chance that my doctor will actually deliver the baby. There are 10 physicians at this practice. They are on call once every 10 days. I'll get whoever is on whenever little Baby Black decides to grace us with his/her presence. I didn't love this idea, but the more that I think about it I don't mind. I know that if I go into labor at 3am, a doctor who has spent all day at the clinic working and seeing patients won't be called out in the middle night to deliver the baby on no sleep and nothing to eat. What if I needed a c-section in some crazy, less than ideal circumstance. I don't want someone cutting into me who isn't completely focus. So, I'm okay with a stranger doing the job. :)

Call me crazy, but I swear I felt a little flutter last night. I was laying down, never would have noticed it normally, but I was completely still and just laying awake. I felt two little flutters...kind of like a little fish wiggle. I was reading online that if you're built small you could feel it sooner than 16 weeks. Also, sometimes your baby can just be a lot more active than others and you can feel them sooner. I also read that you recognize movements sooner if you've had a baby before (which doesn't include me). There's no way it could have been a kick (baby is only 2 inches long right now). My sister thinks it's just gas. Maybe it is, but we'll see! ;)

This is my ultrasound picture from 7 weeks. I'm late uploading it, but better late than never!
This is me at 12 weeks. I feel like my bump is bigger than it is here.

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my
mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully
made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not
hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven
together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of
them came to be." Psalm 139: 13-16

I'm so glad that you started a blog! I blog (though I've been bad about it lately) and I print it out every year! I'm amazed at all the things I end up forgetting over time so the blog is a great way to preserve those memories! I hope you start feeling better soon! I was really sick with Jaclyn & Brayden until I was almost 18 weeks. No fun!
